Middle Eastern Bakery in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn

A family-owned fixture of 3rd Avenue since 1976. Pita comes out of the oven fresh every morning, the way it has since the doors first opened. Manakish, spinach pies, olive oil, and shelves of imported groceries, all run by the same family for three generations.

Our story

Three generations, one oven

Mid-East Bakery and Grocery has been a fixture of 3rd Avenue since 1976, when Antoine and Frangie Tabet first opened its doors. Their daughter Marie now runs the shop with her husband Tony Aflak, and their sons Alex and Thomas have grown up behind the same counter.

The bread has not changed. Neither has the welcome you get walking through the door.

Run by the Aflak family

Tony and Marie Aflak keep the bakery going today, continuing the legacy Marie's parents built. It is still a shop where regulars are greeted by name and the pita is never more than a few hours old.

What neighbors say

"Best pita in Brooklyn, hands down. It's the kind of place where they remember what you always order before you say a word."
