Grown here, by someone from here

  • Open since2012
  • Address358 Stuyvesant Ave

Deborah Young has been growing plants since she was three years old. She grew up in Bed-Stuy, studied marine biology, and ran a floral design business in the 1980s before opening Seasons in 2012 on a lot that had been left to go to weeds.

She turned it into a green corner where neighbors stop in, ask questions and leave with something that will actually grow where they live. More than a shop, it is a place for community and connection, with flowers, art and decorations changing as the year turns.

Every recommendation starts with where the plant is going to live. Bring a photo or just describe the spot.

Stoops and window boxes

Compact color that handles sun, wind and the occasional passing dog.

Shady backyards

Hydrangea, shrubs and evergreens that do well in Brooklyn's brownstone shade.

Holidays and gifts

Mums, cyclamen, wreaths and trees for the door, the table or someone you love.
